Since relocating from Buffalo to NYC in 2019, JLDC has maintained its audiences and communities in Western NY due in large part to our ever-growing partnership with Artpark. Since 2017, Artpark Director Sonia Clark has brought in the company every summer for a breadth of community performances, collaborations, and experiences. In 2021, this partnership reached new heights and new communities with the beginning of JLDC's collaboration with Artpark Bridges, a year-round community engagement program dedicated to providing the larger WNY population with empowerment, integration, healing and creative expression tools through drama, art therapy and interactive initiatives.
This year's residency centered around a collaborative choreographic process AND performance - a unique opportunity for the dancers of JLDC and Cynthia Pegado's Parkinson's Performance group to perform a brand new work, created together, in just one week.
