Jon Lehrer Dance Company has a robust and vibrant community engagement program. From beginners to professionals, trained dancers to new movers, our classes are exciting and enriching for participants of any
age, background, and experience level. With a physics-based approach to dance, we design our
engagements with language and movement that is human, relatable, and comprehensible.
As an internationally touring dance company, we make it a priority to connect with the surrounding community wherever we travel, not only by educating and performing, but by inviting the local community into our world.

What We Offer:
Children’s Workshops
“Become a SuperDancer with JLDC” is our highly successful, interactive education & outreach program suitable for children of any age. Students laugh and play as they learn real JLDC movements such as Spider-Man, Jellyfish, Sumo Slide, Splash, and Waterfall. The students get a great physical workout, have fun, and gain valuable insight into the art and athleticism of dance.
Lecture/Demonstration
JLDC loves to visit schools to present a 45-60 minute performance, intended to expose students K-12 to professional dance in a fun and relatable way. Jon’s background in sports allows him and the company to
relate their work to real-life experiences, focusing on how dance can be athletic, artistic, and expressive.
Accessible Workshops
The fun and joyous JLDC experience, modified for disabled bodies and senior citizens. We collaborate
with communities living with diverse physical and cognitive limitations to create unique and uplifting
moments through dance. We also welcome those that are caretakers, family members, and
supporters of these communities.

Master Classes
Integrating the fluidity of modern dance and the excitement of jazz dance with the laws of physics to create an expressive and dynamic style of movement. Students of all levels learn the technique, style, & repertory that Dance Magazine says is “on the cusp of jazz/modern fusion.”
Setting Choreography
Jon Lehrer can set his signature choreography on groups of all sizes and levels. From dance studio to high school, college to professional, JLDC repertory can be customized to fit all your needs. In many of our performances, these students open our shows with the work we set, putting them on stage with the company and bringing larger audiences to the show.
Pre & Post-Show Discussions
Connecting with our audiences is important to us. Choose a pre- show discussion where Jon Lehrer gives insights into the company, his choreographic vision, and what the audience will see that evening. Choose a post-show discussion and have your audience meet and hear from the entire company.

"Students were captivated by the athleticism, energy, interesting use of costumes, and sense of humor of the Jon Lehrer Dance Company. The Company's professionalism and respect foran audience that has little experience with dance made it memorable for everyone in attendance, adults included."
